Robb's new band, a dynamic and cinematic journey. Its Ontario Arts Council-funded debut LP, when it happens to you, was released at the tail end of 2023.
Astoria
It all started when Robb Johannes saw drummer future Paint founding member Matt Laforest on stage with the UK-inspired Astoria in Vancouver, BC sometime in 2006.
Blamethrower
Jordan's current band, crafted with love. New music is on the way!
Carving Hearts
Robb played bass and sang a bit in this cute little punk/pop band in 2007/2008. An anniversary collection of recordings from the era will be coming in 2024.
Andre Dey
Paint's faithful drummer from 2010-2012. This is Andre's drumming site, including live videos and lessons.
Field Study
Brainchild of Vancouver (now Toronto) singer/songwriter/producer Caleb Stull. Robb played bass and designed album artwork on Every Thing Moves (2018) and Our Liminal Blues (2021)
Leaving Beechwood
Jordan's old alt/rock band from Ottawa, Ontario. Their off-the-floor EP, A Little More, was released in 2009.
Hinterland
Award-winning new wave/shoegaze rock band from Vancouver, BC. Robb played bass and guitar from 2006-2008 for the Picture Plane tour, and the band's final release, Pan Pan Medico (Submerged Records, 2008).
Pantifesto
A project by Robb, meant to be the soundtrack to an as yet unproduced screenplay and undrawn graphic novel. Classic punk rock. Awesome 10th anniversary remix of the debut album and Other Essays was released in 2023.
Paper Moon
One of Canada's finest internationally-acclaimed and award-winning indie pop bands from Winnipeg, Manitoba, based in Vancouver in 2007-2008, during which time Robb was the guitarist with Paint co-founder Paula McGlynn on backing vocals. He appears on the album Only During Thunderstorms (Endearing Records, 2009).
Rulers of the Moon
Toronto post-punk band based on DIY ethic and blistering live shows. Robb played bass live with them. Their album Dissemintation was released in 2013.
Shortwave
A fantastic Toronto Brit-rock quintet in which Devin Jannetta played drums. The Skyline Verses (2011) is available through EMI Music.
